Shearing & Woolcraft

 

We have three breeds at Eyam, Texel Lleyn and Hebridean. The Hebridean are best adapted to the colder winters we are likely to encounter.  Local farmer Richard arrived to shear and a bit of tuition followed.  Once the fleeces were removed they were washed and the wool was carded and spun.  Later the process was further taken forward with some felting and spinning.  We intend the students at Brantwood to be involved in this next year, so that they understand the whole process from start to finish.
