Natural Dyes

Sometimes in extra cold weather the water supply to the building freezes.  One resourceful student suggested melting snow over the open fire in the centre of the sensory garden.  This was immediately woven into the plan by our excellent woolcraft tutor who had also brought Madder and onion skins to boil up and use for dyeing pure cotton.  Her process was to boil the dyeing ingredients for 40 minutes before immersing the twine in the mixture for one hour.
